Atlantic City is a very famous US resort well known for its cool climate and its famed Boardwalk. It is also well known as a fun resort area where casinos are a thriving sporting activity. You can find the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland filled with crowds from late August to early September every year. Timonium is made up of two unincorporated communities of Lutherville and Timonium so if you are lost and asking for directions remember to indicate that you are looking for the State Fair Grounds and most people will be able to get you there.

Agriculture is just as important in the state of Maryland as it is in many other North American States and you can find stiff competitions in the farming arena at this fair. There are judging competitions on everything from the best honey to the best tobacco, with hay, vegetables and fruits in between. It isn’t any easier in the livestock arena, either. You’ll find debates over the proper wool and fleecing and who’s got the best cheeses?

Visitors to the fair can enjoy activities ranging from the Horse and Pony Shows to the Home Arts Shows to the ‘Battle of the Beast’ Bull riding Competition. You can even find your way around to the horse stalls to admire the horses that have been on show. Do be careful not to get too close, no matter how much you may want too, as some horses and ponies are known to be upset by the crowds and noise of the fair.

You can catch a Light Rail to the state fair several times daily. There is also bus service available for visitors during the fair which will bring people to the fair via a route that begins at the University Hospital in Baltimore. The Park and Ride will bring visitors direct to the fair from outlying free parking lots.
