Kids in preschool love watching the Dora the Explorer show and watching her friends, Boots, Diego, Swiper, the Fiesta Trio, and her family, Mami, Papi, Abuela and Daisy. The show also features a number of animal characters including, Senor Tucan, Isa the Iguana, Benny the Bull, Big Red Chicken, Baby Jaguar, Tico the Squirrel, and the Grumpy Old Troll. Much of the show is based on following simple clues to find a lost object or to reach a goal, similar to the Blue’s Clues Show also shown with Dora the Explorer on Nickelodeon. Nearly everything in the show is likely to become a living thing, especially Dora’s purple Backpack which can give Dora a seemingly numerous amount of items from inside itself to help her along on her quest.

The show stays well within light hearted realms with the plotlines. You’ll rarely see an episode that can’t be resolved easily with Dora’s persistence and cleverness. Occasionally the character Swiper appears in each episode to take something from Dora and try to keep her from solving her clue and continuing on her quest. However Swiper is relatively harmless, even somewhat loveable which is shown in an episode where Dora helps Swiper when he gets into trouble.

On the show Dora is able to catch flying stars with the aid of Backpack and store them into the star pocket on backpack. The stars are almost always very happy to be put into the star pocket because it is really much larger on the inside than it appears to be. These stars have special powers that Dora can use to help herself get past various obstacles in her path.

There are several episodes of Dora the Explorer where viewers learn a lot about Dora and the characters past. In the episode, Dora’s First Trip, Dora remembers back to when she first met all of the characters. And on, Boots Special Day, it’s learned that Boots actually has two parents and he’s too young to go outside the house by himself.

Elmo has been a fun character on Sesame Street for many years with his friends, the cookie monster, Big Bird, the Grouch, and even Bert and Ernie. A red furry Muppet he is probably about the age of a child in preschool. Elmo’s got googly eyes and a vibrant orange nose. Elmo has grown in popularity since he was first introduced on Sesame Street and now hosts the last segment on the children’s show called Elmo’s World. You may remember the famous Tickle Me Elmo doll that came out a few years ago. It was the hottest toy of the Christmas season at the time and flew on the shelves in stores because so many parents bought it for their kids.

The Elmo’s World segment is created for toddlers and features Elmo in his room which is a white space filled with crayon drawings on his furniture. Elmo’s world also contains his pet Goldfish, which is a real goldfish, and silent characters including Mr. Noodle, and Mr. Noodle’s Brother Mr. Noodle. In Elmo’s world, Elmo feels very safe and is able to express himself creatively with his crayons. Parents will often notice that Elmo will refer to himself in the third person. His simple sentences are helpful to children in learning basic grammar and language. Elmo’s parents are named Gladys and George but they are rarely if ever seen on the show. He also has grandparents and he has a sister.

Other Elmo dolls have been released including, Hokey Pokey Elmo, Limbo Elmo and Let’s Pretend Elmo, the newest Elmo toy to be released will be the Extreme Elmo, expected to be a big hit this winter.

Elmo has been on many television specials besides spending time on Sesame Street he has been on Martha Stewart, starred with Emril in a cooking show, and actually testified before congress to urge support of music education and other shows.

There have been lots of Disney Princesses over the years, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Jasmine, and many others. In recent years it’s become popular to have Disney Princess parties featuring party decorations and supplies with all the princesses. Disney has released lots of such party supplies with the Disney Princess theme. This party theme makes a great theme for girl’s parties, birthday parties, slumber parties, Halloween parties and just about any other party occasion you can think of, even just a party for the sake of having a party. If you can think of an occasion to have the Disney Princess party then you have a reason to use that theme.

The Disney Princesses come from the Disney Movies. Some of them are really classic movies. Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were made way back in forties and fifties. Both are cartoon movies based on classic fairy tales. Sleeping Beauty was a princess put to sleep with her entire kingdom for hundreds of years until a prince from another kingdom discovered her and kissed her thus breaking the spell on her. Snow White is a very beautiful princess with a jealous stepmother who is also a witch. Her stepmother was so jealous of her that she tries to have her killed. Snow White survived and went to live with the seven dwarfs in the woods. Eventually her prince charming cam along and married Snow White saving her from the evil stepmother.

More recent movies from Disney have featured exotic locations and unusual princesses. Ariel was a mermaid who sought the help of the evil Ursula to get legs so she could walk on land and meet with her human prince. Ursula turned the tables on Ariel and she almost lost her prince and her life, but in the end her prince helped save the day. Jasmine was an Arabian princess and daughter of a rich Sultan. She fell in love with Aladdin and lived happily ever after. If you do the research you’ll find the stories behind all the Disney Princesses and have lots of party fun.
